35 injured, a half-dozen critically, 1 killed. Make that three dead. Two state police died in a helicopter crash surveilling the already declared to be illegal event. As far as I know, anything adverse happening to law enforcement because of illegal activities falls on the alleged perps.
The guy in the video above? I mean, if anyone hurt was a Jew — and there were a lot of Jews among counter-protesters, really a lot — would that make the guy in the video partly guilty? I’m a Catholic priest, but I’m also a Jew. All these violent supremacists are such cowards, hiding in their little cars, etc. Cowards always pick on the unarmed and vulnerable. Cowards.
B’nai B’rith has issued the following statement:
We vehemently condemn the white supremacist and neo-Nazi-backed sentiments and subsequent violence in Charlottesville, Va. The disgraceful rally these groups convened was for the express purpose of gathering hate-mongers and extremists to intimidate people all people and undermine the very principles of our democracy. Racist and anti-Semitic epithets were on vulgar display by these groups.
This abominable gathering serves as an important reminder that we must unite to stand against hatred and extremism. There are not “many sides” to the type of hate displayed at this rally.
From each individual through neighborhoods, communities, towns, cities, states and the nation as a whole, all Americans of good conscious must reject divisiveness and strive to embrace tolerance and unity.
