The above video is the most amazing, amazing, amazing, amazing, amazing recitation by the Venerable Archbishop Fulton J Sheen.
Lovely lady, dressed in blue,
Teach me how to pray
Cause God was just your little boy,
And you know the way
Did you lift him up sometimes,
Gently on your knee
Did you tell him stories of the world,
Like Mother did to me
And when he fell, did you lift him up,
And make everything alright
And did you tell him his prayers at night
I want to know my lovely lady, lovely lady,
Dressed, dressed in blue
Oh, God was just your little boy,
Your little boy and you know the truth
And did you whisper in his ear sweet lullabyes,
I want to know, I want to know,
I want to know, did he cry
Lovely lady, dressed in blue,
Oh won’t you please teach me how to pray
Cause God was just your little boy, and
I want to know, I want to know,
I want to know, so teach me how to pray
Teach me how to pray

GENESIS THESIS GEORGE DAVID BYERS
IVE GENESIS IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CONFERENCE 7 FEBRUARY 2013
That was beautiful.
Sang this in the choir when I was just a wee girl
Please don’t take this the wrong way Father but is it Montra or Monstra? Because the closest thing I can find is Monstra Te Esse Matrem which, as far as I can see, means “Show yourself to be our mother”.
@ James Frost — You’re right, of course. Thanks for that. Pesky typos!
So beautiful. And I do enjoy watching his programmes online on Youtube. He had such a wonderful rapport with his audience/congregation – I understand he was even popular with non-Catholics in the US!
I have been told that he used to come every year to St Patrick’s church in Soho, London. And there is a wonderful story about his encounter with a certain lady there the result of which she changed her ways and eventually became a nun.
Thank you Father for linking again to your thesis and your presention for the 7 Feb 2013 conference. I find your exegesis on Genesis interesting and helpful. Even though I don’t have the necessary education to understand everything you have written, I think I get the gist of what you are saying. The only thing that doesn’t sit right with me is that “He (Ipse) will crush” rather than “She (ipsa) will crush” the head of the serpent. You present a good case for the masculine pronoun but doesn’t the image given by God to St Catherine Laboure for the front of the Miraculous Medal support use of the feminine pronoun?
@ Aussie Mum – As I say, it’s not that those are wrong at all!
