It’s not just New York. It’s now commonplace for Governors to use these kind of euphemisms, trying to get the populace to come up with the question of closing of churches. Clever. But it will happen.

It is my hope that Covid-19 will, like other respiratory infections, ease away in the northern hemisphere as the days continue to lengthen and warm, sunny weather arrives. Unfortunately we are heading toward winter here in Australia. The weather is still warm though at the moment and we don’t have a lot of cases yet. Doctor tested me for Covid-19 earlier this week as my respiratory infection worsened but the results are not back yet. Although I cancelled Father’s visit with Holy Communion this week to protect him should I have the virus, the priest who took my phone call said that was unnecessary because all the priests in my parish (we are blessed with three) would be tending the sick Covid-19 or not. Good priests are a God-send, literally; so different to politicians.
Thanks be to God for Holy Priests! You are right about the decrease of flu cases as the weather warms. I’ll pray for you and your country, Aussie Mum.
Quick note to Father George: The Archdiocese of Houston-Galveston seem to have a reasonable response to COVID-19

“Liturgical Celebrations
At this time when the faithful need to maintain some degree of normalcy in the midst of the current health crisis, the Archdiocese is recommending that each parish continue to maintain their regular Mass schedules for all those who wish to participate. Any parishioners who are uncomfortable about attending Sunday Mass due to the corona virus are excused from the obligation to attend. In addition, if a parishioner is in the higher risk category due to current illness, age, or suffering from a chronic health condition or compromised immune system, they are also asked to remain at home.
We are also compiling a list of parishes that currently live stream Sunday Masses over the internet. If your parish has this capability, please forward this information to XXX (xxx@archgh.org or 713-xxx-xxxx) so the name of your Parish and the Mass time(s) may be identified on our website as an alternative option for those who are unable to attend Sunday Mass in person. “
Prayers much appreciated, thank you Sanfelipe.
Churches in NY rarely have 500 people and if the pews were even close to half full the priest would be smiling.
