Flowers for the Immaculate Conception (Annunciation during Coronavirus, ed.)

Don’t think that flowers for the Immaculate Conception wasn’t on this priest’s heart and mind and soul daily and for a long time before the Feast of the Annunciation on March 25, and on that glorious feast day, and every day since then. Sometimes I can take pictures and many times I simply cannot. Things have been rather… busy… But here are some of the pictures I was able to get in the slideshow above.

This is the way I look at it: If I were to show up at the Annunciation itself to give Mary some flowers… Um… Well… I think I would be interrupting just a bit. I mean, I think Jesus’ good mom was rather busy:

And then, if I were to tag along with dearest Mary as she ran with great haste to help out her cousin Elizabeth in her old age, and then presented her what would now be grubby flowers… Um… Well… I think I would be interrupting just a bit. I mean, I think Jesus’ good mom was rather busy:

But now, fully ten days later, I’m guessing that if I dropped the flowers and ran to hide away from the power of God and the glory of God taking place in that little town nestled in the mountains just below Jerusalem… I’m guessing that if those flowers were noticed for a second or two, perhaps that would provide an occasion for a smile: “Oh look, that little donkey was here!” You know, something like that. ;-)

That is a hopeful perspective. Something like the little drummer boy. No doubt she would have noticed you with your grubby little flowers and your aloofness. And kept those things in her heart, too.

Jesus and his mama know that little donkey loves them.
