Three Days of Darkness: Help!

fatima lucia trinity mercy

All at once there are many from all walks of life, laity and priests, who have spoken to me or asked about the Three Days of Darkness.

I’ve known about this since I was a little, little kid. But that goes back more than 50 years. There are many prophesies from the saints. Many from approved apparitions. I’ve not kept up with this. I’m confused. I don’t know who actually said what. For instance, some cite a letter of Padre Pio to the Holy Father about all this, and his religious superiors don’t deny this, just saying that Padre Pio was not presenting this for public consumption. My question would be how anyone got a hold of that which is only, presumably, in the archives of the Holy See and the archives of the Capuccins.

Anyway, I’m looking for comments on this, bibliography that is serious, that is, not sensationalism, but hard facts, with proof, of who said what and when and where and why… etc. Don’t give me unapproved apparitions.

My own take brings me back to the Pentateuch, to Jonah, to our Lord’s stay in the tomb, etc. Please, do tell me more about Fatima and Lucia on all this. And anything from JPII. Give me links of reputable sources who cite reputable sources.

I haven’t come across anything from Fatima about 3 days of darkness, and although hearing about it for years I haven’t found any verifiable evidence anywhere, and I have looked. I tend to think it is not true but can’t be certain either way and have been wondering if I should buy a beeswax candle and ask Father to bless it when he comes … just in case.

Fr. George, this is the first time I remember you being stumped on religious matters. Did you ask Fr. Gordon?

Liz, I didn’t know before viewing the video you linked to that the “3 days of darkness” attributed to Bl Anna-Maria Taigi could actually be traced to her, and am grateful to you and Dr Marshall for dispelling my uncertainty about the authorship.

That being said, I’m not sure that the darkness Anna-Maria describes necessarily refers to an absence of sunlight and electric light. That’s the meaning one immediately settles on because we live in a material world but what if it is referring to a spiritual reality. Might the 3 days of darkness be referring to a terrible spiritual darkness – a demonic disorientation – that envelopes mankind for 3 days during which many are killed. The blessed candle, in that case, would be the Light of Christ in the hearts and minds of people in a state of grace, clinging to and protected by Our Lord from succumbing to the demonic.

Although Dr Marshall discards the 1st part of the message (wars and revolutions) as being already upon us, I think they are. Wars have been increasing in number and volume ever since the 18th century, gradually involving ever more of the world until there was world war and it didn’t end there; we have been on the verge of a 3rd world war ever since the 2nd ended. As for revolutions, these have been reformatting the way man sees God and neighbour ever since the French Revolution. The current spate of protests in the US that have spilled over into other Western nations appear to be yet another offspring of that revolution, but one still in the making as evil individuals behind the scenes make deals and stir the pot, looking for support to achieve critical mass.

Watching the demonstrations against law and order and seeing the mindless yet gleeful destruction of private, public and Church property, including statues of Our Lord and Our Lady, the demonic comes to mind. State and Church authorities have been slow to act lest they offend the immoral mob, some even kneeling before them in appeasement. This development when considered alongside other madness – idolatry, abortion, same sex marriage, gender confusion and now desecration of the Blessed Sacrament in some parishes due to Covid-19 innovations – seems to suggest spiritual darkness is descending as a demonic orientation takes over.

https://jimmyakin.com/2010/01/a-reader-writessomebody-asked-me-in-regard-of-this-article-is-it-true-or-false-is-it-authentic-or-just-regular-pious-writi.html This sheds a bit of light on the subject. Also in St. Faustina’s diary #83 it says “All light in the heavens will be extinguished, and there will be great darkness over the whole earth.” This is supposed to happen before the day of justice. A sign of the cross will be seen in the sky for a period of time also. There might be increased interest in this stuff now because of a certain book being promoted all over the place right now. Sometimes this stuff comes up to distract us from the Real Presence. Blessings everyone……….

Several sites out there like this one…

Deo Volente, I clicked on the link you gave and found it was a sedevacantist site. Toward the end of the page, under the subheading “What to Do Now” it says “…Obtain some beeswax candles and have these blessed by a True (approbated) priest connected to Pope Gregory XVII and his Successors.”

Pope Gregory XVII is a figment of the Sedevacantist imagination. Sedevacantists claim Cardinal Siri was elected pope at the 1958 conclave, accepted his election and took the name Gregory XVII but was forcibly removed and replaced by Cardinal Roncalli as John XXIII. That is not true and Cardinal Siri never said such a thing but Sedevantists want to believe that the popes from John XXIII on are imposters. This false belief causes them to reject the validity of our priests as well since these were not ordained by bishops appointed by their imaginary “Pope Gregory XVII and his Successors”.

We have to be careful of sites posing as Catholic, planting heresy amongst Catholic information to trap the unwary.

Can’t find any mention of three days of darkness from Sr Sasagawa. Here is the Akita quote re fire from the sky:

After a short silence: “As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never have seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son. (October 13th 1973)

Some are interpreting “fire from the sky” as “three days of darkness” although that seems a bit of a stretch unless the falling fire causes so much smoke in the atmosphere that the sun is veiled. An eruption of a super-volcano could block out the sun for days but it wouldn’t rain down fire world-wide unless there were simultaneous eruptions on every continent.

Last year when the pachamama was being feted in Rome, a radio station (not Sister directly) announced that she had received another message: “cover in ashes” and “pray the penitential rosary”. Sackcloth and ashes in the Old Testament comes immediately to mind.

For anyone wondering how the picture at the top of Father’s post came to made, it was taken from Lucia’s description of an apparition she received June 13th 1929. What happened at that time can be read on p. 197-198 of the book, Fatima in Lucia’s Own Words, at the link below.

I have never been sure how much stock to put in the words attributed to Bl Anna-Maria Taigi and Ven Elizabeth Canori-Mora because anyone could make something up and use their names, but your link clarifies the situation in regards Elizabeth since it states her hand-written accounts are archived. That’s very important, thank you Habalady.
With this new confidence my thoughts return to questions I have had for some time re the following:
‘ “Behold, my daughter, such great ungodliness.” Blessed Elizabeth then saw “apostates brazenly trying to rip her most holy Son from her arms”.’
What would an attempt to rip Our Lord from His Mother’s arms look like? Have we been seeing this for a long time but are not recognising it for what it is? Is there a connection with Fatima’s call for reparation for sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary?
I have no doubt a chastisement is coming and it will be frightening. Elizabeth doesn’t mention 3 days of darkness though and it may not take that form. Apart from having a blessed beeswax candle on hand just in case, does it matter if we know ahead of time what form the chastisement will take? Maybe it does. Lots to think on.
