First Friday Adoration

The Sacred Heart to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque: “In the excess of the mercy of my Heart, I promise you that my all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion on the First Fridays for nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments, and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour.”

For nine consecutive months on the First Friday, Mass and Holy Communion, with Confession if need be. In this parish we, of course, have Holy Mass and a Holy Hour during which Confession is provided. There are twelve promises of Jesus regarding the First Fridays. I remember being totally amazed and thankful to Jesus as a little kid when my sister introduced me to this devotion (as well as the Five First Saturdays).

  1. I will give them all of the graces necessary for their state of life.
  2. I will establish peace in their homes.
  3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions.
  4. I will be their strength during life and above all during death.
  5. I will bestow a large blessing upon all their undertakings.
  6. Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy.
  7. Tepid souls shall grow fervent.
  8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.
  9. I will bless every place where a picture of my heart shall be set up and honored.
  10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.
  11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.
  12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant all to those who communicate on the First Friday in nine consecutive months the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving their sacraments; My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.

So glad to see the 9 First Fridays being promoted here and the 5 First Fridays in your following post, thank you Father for all you do.

If any readers here have someone getting married and have not yet bought a wedding present, may I suggest twin pictures of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. My father’s elder brother did this for my parents when they were married 74 years ago and I still remember those pictures hanging on my parents’ wall. It seems to me that many graces were received because of their presence in our home.
My father and his brother made their 9 First Fridays at Catholic school (they were taught by the Christian Brothers) a few years before turning 18 and signing up for WWII. Neither man ever lost his Catholic Faith and both received Extreme Unction and Holy Communion before they died as promised.
I feel certain that devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, if widely embraced, would bring about the reversal of all the grave problems facing the world today.

Oops! “5 First Fridays” in my comment above should read “5 First Saturdays”.
