Flowers for the Immaculate Conception (UPDATE: Lavender Mafia, edition)

These have been coming up for years, since before this little “hut” was called a rectory, before I got here. They’re right out front, now near the more recently installed statue of the Immaculate Conception.

I’m guessing that they are not any kind of hyssop, but rather a local variety of lavender. As you may know, there was a fad some years ago to refer to the homosexualist mafia in the church as the Lavender Mafia, the “Gay” Mafia, you know, those who promote their own kind and marginalize all others according to their style of sin.

But in my view, all flowers were created by Christ our God (whom the homosexualist mafia ignores) so as to give some joy His Blessed Mother and ours, He passing on any flowers to His dear mother, even from us, wretches that we are:

But there’s more to this than merely re-claiming creation away from the monsters and to proclaim the proper place of creation before the Creator and Judge of all.

I purposely give these lavender flowers to the Immaculate Conception also because of how they have been hijacked and besmirched. The lavender mafia goes out of its way to destroy the image of God as revealed in human nature and described in Genesis as male and female, marriage and family. The Divine Son of the Immaculate Conception redeemed us by His marriage with His Immaculate Bride, the Church, laying down His life in His wedding vows at the Holy Sacrifice: This is my body given for you in sacrifice, my blood poured out for you in sacrifice. He suffered to set the image of God right again; He suffered to gain back all of creation. Restaurare omnia in Christo, to restore all things in Christ, right? The Immaculate Conception suffered to remain in solidarity with Him whilst He was on the Cross. With that redemption, all perverted recategorizing of creation cannot hold. Everything goes back in it’s proper place before God. I myself have suffered because of the “lavender mafia.” I prefer to call them the homosexualist mafia, and give the flowers to the Immaculate Conception.

I’m sure Mother Mary is happy to receive even lavender flowers as cut off from any connection with nefarious mafias.

UPDATE: A snarky feisty reader sent in this scientific exactitude:

  • Gayfeather (Liatris spicata) is a flowering perennial plant with tall spikes of showy purple or white flowers. Also called blazing star or prairie star, Liatris spicata grows in clumps and prefers moist, marshy ground. Blazing star flower spikes grow between 1 and 5 ft. (0.3 – 1.5 m) tall. The impressive gayfeather flowers mean the plant is ideal for planting individually or mass planting along borders in full sun.

So, I was mistaken, but not really. I got the message right all the more. Hahaha.

Didn’t the people talking about the Lavender Mafia also talk about Gay Lobbies?
