This feast day of Our Lady of Sorrows follows the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross. Throughout my life the two feast days of John the Baptist (his birth and martyrdom) and also the tandem feasts of the Exaltation of the Cross and of Our Lady of Sorrows have brought life changing events to yours truly.
Don’t get the wrong idea. That’s not because I have much of any reflection of Jesus and Mary and John in my life. Just the opposite. It’s because I need all the help I can get and I need to pay attention to dearest John, to the cross, and to the sorrows of our Lady (hint: because that’s not what I do on my own, wretch that I am).

Mgr Brouwet was installed today in his new diocese. I have tried unsuccessfully to find out who the next Bishop of Tarbes and Lourdes will be. Is it usual for a diocese to lose its bishop and not have a new one waiting in the wings so to speak?
Yes
