A priest friend of many years is dying from an aggressive terminal illness. I asked him if he wanted me to ask for prayers on my little blog and then I asked from whom we should ask some heavenly intercession.
He said “Yes” to the first question, though he wants to remain anonymous. And to the second request I was very pleased at this response of his (in a text):
- “I’m asking through the intercession of blessed Seelos :)”
So, in going to the website dedicated to the canonization of Father Seelos (beatified by John Paul II in 2000) we find this to-the-point request for Father Seelos’ intercession:
- O my God, I truly believe you are present with me. I adore your limitless perfections. I thank you for the graces and gifts you gave to Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos. If it is your holy will, please let him be declared a saint of the Church so that others may know and imitate his holy life. Through his prayers please give me this favor… the healing of the terminal illness of Father “J”.
I have much good to say about Father “J”, but I don’t want to reveal his identity. He just wants to continue his priestly ministry here on earth even while Father Seelos is universally raised to the dignity of the altar.

I have begun praying the prayer you have posted for Father Seelos’ intercession on behalf of Father J, hoping God grants the miracle allowing Father J many more years ahead on this earth following in the saintly footsteps of Father Seelos.
