I’ve rarely put up a Flower for the Immaculate Conception, of late. That’s not right. Apologies to our Lady. I am weak.
It takes much spiritual strength to give flowers to the Immaculate Conception. How can any of us dare to give her a gift when, by our sin, we have crucified her dear Son? Instead of returning to Calvary as did John, I just run away like the rest.
I need to take my own advice and just admit that I am too weak. That, of course, opens me up to turning to a strength provided in Jesus, her Divine Son.
Perhaps if all goes well today’s homily will be published in these pages. John 14:1-12. Can you guess wherein this will be a homily on the Immaculate Conception?

Perhaps in that Mary Immaculate always believed – always knew who her Son was – because, being preserved from original sin and choosing never to sin herself, she was “full of grace” and therefore saw the truth clearly, unlike us sinners.
That too, but…

Father, is what you are getting at the reality that her Immaculate Heart withstood all the sorrows which came with her vocation as the Mother of God and of His Church? She never ran away but followed her divine Son to Calvary and stayed under the Cross, facing all the horror with Him. Love and sacrifice go together and we sinners in our weakness are easily overwhelmed and try to escape that sacrifice.

In the words of the gospel do you mean? “Nobody comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6) and He tells us through scripture and teachings of the Church that Mary Immaculate was His vehicle to us and is likewise our vehicle – her Immaculate Heart our doorway – to Him. I am not putting that well. I will have to wait on your homily, Father. Please do put it up if possible.
I’m still trying … I’m like a dog with a bone when my mind starts chewing on something. The bottom line: There would be no Hypostatic Union, no Gospel, no coming to the Father through Jesus if not for the Immaculate Conception. We owe her so much and Our Lord wants us to appreciate, love and learn from her and thus follow Him to the Father in Heaven. I’ll be quiet now. Looking forward to your homily, Father. Thank you for letting me try to work my way through to a better understanding.

Father, the homily re-opened my eyes to “Jesus’ greatest of his works”, our blessed virgin Mary! She is the epicenter if all he has given to us here! Thank you for another wonderful homily!
