/// The following is taken from the USCCB website bio. I bet that will be removed forthwith. Interesting details. The licentiate degree form the Angelicum in ecumenical theology had one of the biggest heretics known to the history of the Church as professor at the time. Dunno if he’s still there, but… ///
Reverend Monsignor Jeffrey D. Burrill, STL – GENERAL SECRETARY
Rev. Msgr. Jeffrey D. Burrill, S.T.L., was elected USCCB General Secretary by the body of bishops on November 16, 2020. He succeeds Msgr. J. Brian Bransfield, who served in the role for five years. Prior to his election as General Secretary, Msgr. Burrill served as a USCCB Associate General Secretary since February 2016.
The USCCB General Secretary coordinates all administrative matters of the Conference, and is responsible for the coordination of the work of the Conference Committees and staff. He likewise directs and coordinates the planning and operational activities of the various secretariats and offices in support of the work of the Conference.
Msgr. Burrill is a priest of the Diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin, where he served as pastor of St. Bronislava Church from 2013-2016. Previously, he served at the Pontifical North American College in Rome from 2009-2013, first as director of apostolic formation and then as the Carl J. Peter chair of homiletics, formation advisor, and director of media relations. He was pastor of the tri-parishes of St. Mary’s, Durand, Holy Rosary, Lima, and Sacred Heart of Jesus in Mondovi, Wisconsin, from 2001 through 2009. He taught and served as chaplain at Regis High School and Middle School in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, from 1999 to 2001.
Msgr. Burrill earned a bachelor of arts degree from Saint Mary’s College Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Winona, Minnesota, in 1994; a bachelor of sacred theology from the Gregorian University in Rome in 1997; and a licentiate in ecumenical theology from the Angelicum University, also in Rome, in 1999. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1998 in the Diocese of La Crosse. He served in several leadership positions for the diocese, including six years as a regional vicar and two terms on the Diocesan Presbyteral Council. Msgr. Burrill also served as the ecumenical officer and as a member of the seminary admissions board. https://www.usccb.org/about/jeffrey-d-burrill-stl
Hey! Just a guess! But I think you will soon see dozens of new interviews with the great Father James Altman who will be able to speak to all this with alacrity, as he is a member of the same diocese as this guy. Oh my. Let the fireworks begin. More power to Father Altman, the power of being a member of the Little Flock of Jesus, on one who has reverence for Jesus and His dear Immaculate Mother. I mean contrast that with the Monsignor Grindr pictured above. Fine. Excuse me. They are just allegations. So, nothing, right? If you want full context for what you’ll be seeing with Father Altman, read the Pillar investigation:
The companions of Saint Charles refused to suffer the sexual abuse that the king wanted to foist upon them because they were following the good example and direction of Saint Charles. He was their protector.
Saint Charles is the patron saint of those who stand up against the abuse of office used to foist sexual abuse on others. The abusers get upset with the likes of a Saint Charles.
Here’s the deal: what the king was doing with abuse of office used to foist sexual abuse on others is not a once-off in humanity. It happens all the time. And we can’t say that it’s just some secular king who was a bit freaky. No, no. But it this way: can we deny that there are plenty of “kings” of their own imaginings, certain ecclesiastics, priests and bishops have not done the same as the king with minors?
Let’s take this a step further. Are there others who are like Saint Charles, who are going to protect minors against the sexual aggression of the freakoids? Yes, there are. And what if some of these emulators of Saint Charles are priests, and their bishops are playing the role of the sex-demented-king? Are those bishops going to slit the throats of the priests who call out sexual abuse, you know, at least by way of marginalizing them, dismissing them from the clerical state? Sure. And then we have more martyrs or at least saints with heroic virtue. Pray for good priests. Hail Mary…
Jesus was never stripped naked and paraded in front of anyone, right? This never happened to the prophets of old, nor anyone in our own day, right?
/// Nota bene: In this rant, “beta-boys” does not refer to any rock group, but rather to a nickname for idiot wanna-be-tough guys, with “beta-boys” being a nickname coined by the great wife of Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher and applied to the ever so tender snowflake bullies of the NCIS (one from the FBI). ///
Power beta-boys in Peru and Haiti
Remember those occasions in Peru and Haiti when PsyOps beta-boys of those governments baited crime to prosecute in such manner as to make for a chilling effect on protests of injustice, what with high-up ecclesiastics taken by whatever jerky government, stripped, hands tied, and put on a leash behind a pickup truck, and marched naked throughout their local cities? Purpose? Baiting: maybe the poor guys will try to fight what was happening to them, and therefore be accused of crimes, you know, on camera. Purpose? Humiliation. A warning. Don’t criticize! Just shut up and let corruption reign and let populations be oppressed, you know, super-Venezuela events benefiting like only a dozen people in the entire countries in question.
Sandinista beta-boys in Nicaragua
Remember when, in Nicaragua, non-Communist truly Catholic Cardinal Obando y Bravo’s right hand man was taken in his parish, how he got a call for Last Rites in the middle of the night? He knocked on the door and he was forthwith grabbed, stripped naked and thrown on to a bed with a naked prostitute with, conveniently, a half-dozen movie cameras running. He was then tied up naked behind a truck and paraded around his village. Sound familiar? Nicaraguans are savvy, however, and forthwith kidnapped a top Sandinista Commie and, having tied him in back of pickup, paraded him naked around his city. But then the oppression and killings were ramped up until today its like living dying under Stalin in Nicaragua.
McCarrick beta-boys in these United States of America
But let’s change the scenery up a bit. Let’s rearrange deck chairs on the Titanic. Let’s say someone is accused of some crime and that the mere accusation is somehow bringing shame to an institution. Let’s say that the prevailing unethical self-serving idiocy of availability bias of an all-too-willing population as manipulated by the media holds the politically correct bullying idea that accusation is guilt, having forgotten all about due process and that one is to be held innocent until proven guilty. “Witches” in Salem were thrown into a river; if they drown they were innocent; if they lived they would be hanged. These prevailing winds of pointing the finger at someone else rampant in any oversexualized society were very handy for, say, Cardinal Theodore McCarrick to take suspicion off himself and place it on any and all priests who, if accused are held to be guilty, making those bishops look to all and sundry like heroes because of being “tough on abuse”, even while, you know, they themselves, his beta-boys, were, you know, doing that which they so condemned. But everyone knew that.
Those seminarians and priests who were actually believers and who were not caving to homosex beta-boys – quickly found out that they would be thrown out of any seminary or be removed from any assignment, not even because they were accused, but because they would not agree that the oversexualized Sodom and Gomorrah in which we live is a good thing. No due process, ever. That’s the point. Make it so absurd that one cannot rebel. Make it so absurd that everyone will, in fear, say that accusation is guilt. So, these seminarians and priests are made an example, stripped of their good names, humiliated, and paraded about in front of the Church and the world. These are PsyOps by the enemies of the Church. Yes. Everyone else will simply fall into line. And where are we today? Yuck. Get it? The thing is, God also sees. Jesus Himself was accused, no due process, held to be guilty because of being accused, stripped and humiliated, paraded about. The Chief Priests did that so it must be true! It happened. Deny any of that, deny Jesus, and He will deny you. He said so. He will come to judge the living and the dead and the world by fire.
NSW, DoD, FBI back NCIS beta-boys armed with M4s, f***ing with real boys in underwear (with those real boys proving themselves to be more men than the fake-men-beta-boys
Talk about PsyOps meant to intimidate and bait. Oh my. Perhaps you remember when the highly decorated incredibly talented Navy SEAL (Team 7) Eddie Gallagher was accused of murdering an ISIS fighter, and was thrown under the bus by the Department of the Navy. They didn’t want him to have due process, as that would drag out, and bring media scrutiny, and “hurt” the SEALs branding. The higher-ups wouldn’t look like heroes, you know, tough on crime, if they they didn’t hold Eddie to be guilty because of being accused. Sound familiar? It’s all for looks, not for justice. They did everything they could with PsyOps and baiting to get Eddie to just shut up and take life imprisonment, regardless of whether or not he was guilty or innocent. He was proven innocent. But to get there? Oh my…
Yesterday I binge watched a five hour, thirty minute interview of Eddie Gallagher by Shawn Ryan. I am a better person for having done that, a better priest for having done that. Totally worth it. Oh my… The whole thing was, to me, riveting. Lots of chill there. Lots of calm wisdom. There are just some minutes of this interview that you might want to take a look at (sailor language warning). Go to 2:08:05 and let it run to 2:37:00. His eight year old son and his wife are also interviewed in these few minutes. You’ll understand why I prefaced this video with the above stories about being paraded about naked, why I prefaced this with stories of baiting…
Just. Wow. I think somewhere in that five and 1/2 hour interview Eddie says something about wanting to rip out the throats of the “beta-boys” who were assaulting his kids while he and his wife were not at home. But he didn’t do that, though obviously he has the skill sets to actually do that, in seconds, to all of them. But he refrained, knowing that this was all PsyOps to get him to attempt something just like that, at which point he would have been mag dumped by like two and half dozen NCIS beta-boys pretending to be SWATers. So he didn’t do that. He’s my hero whose example I strive to follow. Totally chill guy for his past life experience. Baiting to murder a guy? This is just how bad it gets. This is what the higher ups are like, right now, though, just to say, one of the higher-ups in this fiasco was, you know, retired out early. Bwahahahahaha. Look, the SEALs as a whole are great. They’re our best. I’m just so disappointed with the few self-protectionists ever so reminiscent of McCarrick. And the NCIS? Wow. Such criminals… Maybe some are good, but these guys?
The FBI and NCIS knew he was not home, as they had Eddie locked in an interrogation room for the morning. The FBI and NCIS knew that his wife was not home, only the two kids, eight and just turned eighteen. The younger brother was watching Saturday morning cartoons and the older brother was asleep in his bed, both in their underwear. Then, lasers dotted on them, and then instantly M4s pointed at their heads from “like a foot away.” You know, while they stood there in underwear, obviously not a threat.
FBI and NCIS Prosecutors pointing M4s at kids in underwear from like a foot away. Wait. What? Isn’t that getting to be analogous to the accusation brought against the defendant?
This FBI guy and the NCIS beta-boys are total s***heads. Sorry, but… Anyway, the two kids were paraded out in their neighborhood in their underwear always with at least two M4s aimed at them while the other kitted out NCIS beta-boys ransacked the house for seven hours. Anyway, just watch those few minutes.
My purpose in putting this up is to disabuse the naivety of those who think this sort of thing to be impossible, even when such corruption is all around us every day. It happened to Jesus. Get it? Some don’t. The ones who deny that any kind of betrayal just cannot happen live fearful, useless lives, and make life difficult for those who would jar them out of their unreality.
“You’re a conspiracy theorist, Father Byers!” I guess I am, because I do think that Satan gets a lot of beta-boys around himself. We should be aware of that, not because of fear, but because of being fearless, in honesty, integrity, truth, in love of God and neighbor. You can’t fix it if you deny it. You can’t fix it if you are fearful. You can’t fix it unless you stop being a beta-boy.
We need men to man up. Eddie Gallagher did. Thank you, Eddie. And thank you, Shawn, for putting this up. The best five and a half hour video I ever watched! ;-)
/// Just to say: When NCIS and the FBI allow this abuse of family, of wife and kids, it’s beyond just Mafia-esque strong arming. Just too much.
In New York, you can get away with anything for free and skip your court date and still get away without a bond to escape again. So, that invites violent crime, and of course the first ones perps will try this out on are cops. This post is categorized and tagged also as humor because Mike the Cop in the video is so very angry – rightly so – that he can only keep it together by inserting a bit of chancy humor.
FoxNews NEW YORK — Two New York City police officers narrowly escaped with their lives when a gunman fired into their patrol van Saturday night, wounding one of them in an attack officials called an attempted assassination. The ambush, which Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said “should outrage all New Yorkers,” happened just before 8:30 pm in the South Bronx. The officer at the wheel of the van was grazed in the chin and neck, but he avoided serious injury, Shea said. He was expected to released from the hospital Sunday. “He is lucky to be alive,” Shea said. “He is expected to make a full recovery and it is a miracle.” Shea recalled other unprovoked assaults on police officers sitting in their patrol vehicles.
Mayor Bill de Blasio, a Democrat, condemned the latest attack at a news briefing outside the Bronx hospital where the wounded officer was being treated. “There’s too much hatred in general, there’s too much hatred being directed at our officers, and it has to end,” the mayor said. “We have to move forward in a situation like this and find a way to create a peaceful society, not one where those who protect us are in danger in this way.” [And the way to do that is to have no bond for violent crimes?]
The two uniformed officers, partners for eight years and friends since middle school, were sitting in their van with emergency lights activated when a man approached them and engaged them in conversation, Shea said. The man asked the officers for directions, then pulled out a gun “without provocation,” the commissioner said. The man fired multiple shots, striking the officer behind the wheel. Shea said the officer’s carotid artery narrowly avoided injury. Neither officer returned fire. The officer’s partner drove him to a hospital nearby. Shea called both officers “heroic” for their composure and said their long association made for “an amazing story.”
Officers had a basic description of the gunman, who fled after the shooting, but his identity was unknown. Security video that appeared to capture the shooting shows the van driving quickly away as a man appeared to point something at the fleeing vehicle. The officers had been stationed in the neighborhood because of recent drug activity and violence, Shea said. The president of the police union, Pat Lynch, said the department will use “all its resources” to bring the shooter to justice. [He means to bring the shooter to no bail and walk and skip town to come back later and do the same thing. You can bring a perp to justice, but New York justice actually promotes violent crimes and crimes of turpitude.]
My own comment on something analogously stupid:
When I sat through the VIRTUS® Child Protection training there were guidelines presented about possibly suspect people, so that if one noticed TWO things in a list of suspicious behaviors, then one was to bring this up the ladder. The problem was that one of the things was showing porn to minors. So, if you haven’t by chance noticed one more suspect behavior, then you are to just let it go. It’s not suspect behavior at all. All good. VIRTUS® is the education arm of The National Catholic Risk Retention Group. They should all be thrown in prison, with no bail before any court date either.
It is said that this guy’s species is vulnerable, not quite endangered, but getting there. Near the hermitage, Box Turtles are everywhere to be seen. Like the turtle pictured above, they eat snails, raw. I guess you would have to call that poisonous Sushi or badly prepared Escargot.
If he’s eating a vulnerable snail, I wonder… if it went to DOJ prosecutors as handed over by SWAT teams from the deep-state EPA, which one would be protected more, the turtle or the snail. You’d have to kill the turtle to get the snail, which is already mortally wounded… So… Let’s spend billions of dollars on litigation while the whole rest of the world is going to hell and both the turtle and the snail die anyway! All so very absurd. I’m sure you can make analogies…
Meanwhile, in the Church, regardless of whatever improvements in policy are being made or not in regard to the abuse crisis over decades of more of the same abuse of authority, the ONE WHO IS IMPORTANT, JESUS, IS STILL NOT MENTIONED FOR MORE THAN FIFTY YEARS. How has that worked out? How’s the Church doing with that?
“In the course of my 1994 trial, and while sentenced to life in prison, and during State and habeas corpus appeals I have never been allowed to utter a single word in my own defense. In 2011 a two-part documentary video was made of my testimony. It went missing for several years and has just turned up.”
PART 1:
PART 2:
The insanity of self-congratulators, self-proclaimed heroes of a witch-hunt, only destroys justice for all, making hatred into a virtue, further destroying lives. People will get sick of allegations being made equal to guilt and no longer listen to real victims. False accusers, drawn by the lure of ultra-super-easy money, will also live destroyed lives. Justice, due process – what priests have not been afforded – is important, more important than the self-hero worship of bishops who proclaim themselves to be “tough on abuse” when they simply continue to abuse justice, entrenching in the basic problem all the more with abuse of authority.
I’ve been writing about this for years and years. It’s like pissing against the wind. The topic is still so politically incorrect that no one will take this up. VIRTUS®, the education arm of The National Catholic Risk Retention Group, all envisioned and run for years by those on record for being homosexualists, promotes porn in seminaries while saying porn in parishes is alright. And then they make payouts. Kind of like creating the problem and solving it, you know, for money. RICO, anyone?
Here’s the deal. The program I witnessed here in the parish was unlike the program that I had sat through at the seminary at which I was teaching, even though the time frame was quite close one to the other.
The one at the seminary offered some guidelines for spotting potentially reportable incidents, offering a list of something like ten things, any two of which (but not one on its own) being enough to report suspicions about whatever individual to authorities. One of those things was showing porn to youngsters. Get it? The message is, catching someone on the Church campus showing porn to kids is just fine and dandy unless there are other behaviors that might make one suspicious.
I objected that this was entirely absurd, that it was way more than enough to report someone on a stand-alone incident if this is showing porn to kids. The presenter agreed with me quietly, saying he agrees with me. And that was it. There was no official correction of the program as offered.
Bloody hell. If I saw someone showing porn to kids on church property I would call 911 and get the recording at dispatch recording, and then I would end the threat of scandal forthwith – whatever that would take – saying the address of the emergency loud enough for 911 to hear, then tell the kids they are not in trouble but they would need to make a statement against the aggressor as soon as the police arrived, not permitting the perp to leave, that not being kidnapping, but rather the stopping of a threat. Then I would call the diocese.
“VIRTUS®”? What a misnomer. (Arch)dioceses really need to stop using VIRTUS® and any other participation in The National Catholic Risk Retention Group.
Fatima is all about… what? Some few points. How to choose? There are so many…
Real catechesis of little kids about such things as angels, Jesus’ good mom, prayer, the Most Holy Trinity, Eucharistic reparation for poor sinners.
Real catechesis of little kids about heaven and purgatory and… and… hell. Our Lady even shows the kids hell, not to be cruel, but to assist them in being enthusiastic about bringing poor sinners to Jesus with
Instruction on martyrdom, with political authorities throwing the kids into jail with hardened criminals, wherein the kids got the knuckleheads to pray.
Living faithfulness in pain and sickness and death, with little Francisco and Jacinta being examples for us all.
In other words, we see the capacity of even little kids to know and understand and live the faith in faithfulness, with lively reverence before the Blessed Mary’s Divine Son, in all humble thanksgiving.
Does not Jesus tell us that we ourselves will be condemned to hell forever if we do not become as little children. Adults tend to let themselves become jaded and dumbed down and darkened and cynical and arrogant, congratulating themselves that they have it all over all religion in their sophisticated cleverness. Horrific. That doesn’t belong in heaven.
Fatima is a stunning instruction on how our Lord and God is solicitous for the welfare of each individual, each child.
Oh! What’s that?! NOT pandering to children? Treating kids as idiots with dumbed down catechesis goes hand in hand with abuse of kids. Check out the timeline of malicious catechesis, when it started (1968), when it was at its peak (1973), and when it started to recede a bit in favor or actual catechesis (1978 onward), and compare that to a frequency graph for incidents of abuse, and you’ll find that they overlap exactly.
So, stop pandering to kids with dumbed down catechesis. Treat kids with respect.
But to do that adults must be believers themselves, must be participating in the faith themselves, including being penitents and doing penance for poor sinners, taking up the points of Fatima, living the faith we have be given by our Lord.
Some doctorates about local stuff are good. But – just to say – …
For all the years I was in Rome across many decades – and also here in these USA, fellow students were – pretty much all of them it seemed – were writing their doctoral theses (you fill in the blanks) on ____[TOPIC]___ in ___[LOCAL AREA]___. For instance:
Sing-song vocalizations of various words spoken by street people [of a certain race] on a particular street corner in Louisiana depicting continuation in liberation. [That’s for real. The priest who wrote this thesis ended up convicted of abuse of minors. Yep.]
Some were more serious theologically, along the lines of:
Whether violence is useful in Liberation Theology applications in Amazonian Region #___[NUMBER]___
Most were outright attacks on the Creed, along the lines of:
The non-divine Jesus from below in the experience of the ___[TRIBE]___ peoples
Lots of these dealt with sexual morality, of course, forcing a loss of morality.
One, from a priest in Oceania, promoted ethnic cleansing, even violent, as in genocide. He hid it in footnotes, but I spotted it. None of the professors on the defense commission – somehow – did not spot this at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Surprise, surprise.
I brought that thesis to the attention of his bishop, of the local archbishop, and of a number of dicasteries in the Holy See. The guy was promoted. I’m so naive. But failure is still success if one has done one’s best to do what is right and just. We must never give up. Never. God’s not so interested in our success as He is in our faithfulness to Him.
The content of all this blather doesn’t matter. The point is that the very exercise of writing such a thesis restructures the writer’s beliefs, so that he now has nothing but a Marxist world-view, a dialectic analysis of “the people.”
Did I say that pretty much everyone was doing this?
And now we see this as the constant theme, the pastoral solution of this diocese or that conference of bishops in that ever so special culture in an ever so special place, so special that the Church is irrelevant, Jesus is irrelevant, the truth is irrelevant. It’s experiences and feelings and stuff like, you know, like that stuff.
When people in not so special cultures in not so special places hear of such things, of course they think that they are also so special that the Church and Jesus and the truth is also irrelevant for them, so they can do what they damn well please. And make no mistake, this is always about morals, always about sex.
Does no one believe in Christ Jesus?
These weak people do such damage to peoples right around the world.
If you’re reading this and you’ve done up such a thesis, perhaps you’d like to comment and defend yourself, or, as someone else known to me has done instead, repent of such idiocy and then speak of your new found friendship with Him who is the Living Truth, for all peoples of all times and places and cultures and social conditions, of all tribes and tongues and peoples and nations. Perhaps you would like to speak of looking upon Him who we have all pierced with our sin, He who hangs on the cross for all of us to see.
It’s all about Him. He’s the One. He’s the only One. Write about Him. Speak about Him. Bring people to Him, to their knees in Confession. Then we’ll live by His love, His Truth, His goodness and kindness, His forgiveness, and yes, then, His mercy founded on… wait for it… His justice.
Otherwise, people run to the lowest common denominator of hell. Sexual deviance. Always.
Peace, my friends.
Update: LifeSite’s interview with Cardinal Sarah, a particularly apropos interjection:
“We tolerate any calling into question. The Catholic doctrine is challenged, and in the name of self-styled intellectual postures, theologians take pleasure in deconstructing dogma and in emptying morals of their profound meaning. Relativism is the mask of Judas disguised as an intellectual. How can we be surprised that so many priests break their commitments? We downgrade the meaning of celibacy, we demand the right to a private life, which is the opposite of the priest’s mission. Some go so far as to claim the right to homosexual activity. One scandal follows another, involving priests and bishops.”
