“The truth will set you free” in this Year of Mercy, or it will make you “one of the disappeared ones”

TSW 2015 12 02 - Father George David Byers Guest Post

It has been said that “The truth will set you free.” That depends. In some circles it will just knock you further down. Let’s see how the truth plays out in the Year of Mercy. Please read and share this masterful guest post by Father George David Byers: “Prelude to the Year of Mercy, Confronting the Truth.”

That’s the BCC message Father MacRae composed for his email subscribers to TSW – These Stone Walls (about). He gives you the proper warning about my guest post there. Clicking on the image will also bring you to that guest post on TSW.

An outrageous mercy

Those in the abuse office of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith who read this, and who rightly have qualms of conscience and want to change some policies that are rightly called self-referrential, self-congratulatory, Promethian neo-Pelagian efforts to make themselves “heroes” even while casting also innocent priests into the darkest of existential peripheries, will rejoice to have some public outcry to cite and some resources of reason to download and print out. The examples given go right to the very epicenter of the abuse crisis in an effort to bring it full circle and to its conclusion in the wounds of Christ Jesus.

Yes, an outrageous mercy

The last time I published anything like this – just a coincidence? – I was silenced by someone in Rome for years. No one is silenced if his words are not having any effect. And no one is given a mandate to preach unless it is thought that his words will be effective. I now take the opportunity to publish this all again as one of Pope Francis’ own Missionaries of Mercy. Times are changing. Pope Francis wants us to manifest an outrageous mercy, a mercy which is provided in the same manner, if you will, as the parrhesia with which he desires us all to speak, that is, about the truth for the common good even at great personal risk.

Dear reader, please know that this article on TSW, if met with great anger by the powers that be, could well be the catalyst which has Father Gordon dismissed from the clerical state and to have me simply – how to say it? – removed. Both Father Gordon and I are agreed about this: the truth must be told for the sake of an outrageous mercy even at great personal risk.

And more than that, it’s an outrageous mercy

Please, help us. Go to TSW, read the article, and, if you would, in your charity, use the sharing buttons there. That little action can help change things for the better, bringing all the horror right to Jesus for healing and mercy. And that’s what this is about: Jesus’ Mercy. For my part, I feel a great peace about this, and real joy.

– Thank you –

Prelude to the Year of Mercy, Confronting the Truth.”

Wow! The truth is finally out! I pray that somehow Pope Francis reads this and responds to Fr. Gordon and the bishops who have been his Judas for years and years!

    Yes, what Charlene said!

  3. Father George and Father Gordon, thank you for being willing to stand for the truth. You and Fr. Gordon are modern day apostles. I pray for you by name every day.
